Who Are the Friends?

The Crestwood Library was conceived of and founded by a vibrant and determined group of women in the 1920’s. Three decades later an equally resolute coterie of neighbors established a Friends’ organization to carry on the work of the initial founders.

This fall (2025) we will celebrate 99 years of our cozy building’s existence AND in 2026 there will be a very notable celebration of our

100Years

We hope to publish a yearbook of stories: “100 Stories for 100 Years!” Please contribute your story by sending it as an attachment to friendsofcrestwoodlibrary@gmail.com or drop a paper copy at the library’s main desk at 16 Thompson Avenue. Many Thanks!

Join us on Wednesday, May 6th at 7:00PM for Crestwood Centennial Conversation with Colum McCann

Celebrate Crestwood Library’s Centennial with best-selling author Colum McCann. Q&A will follow the talk and Colum McCann will be available to sign copies of his books (no books will be available for sale on the premises). Registration is strongly encouraged to guarantee seating. Walk-ins may be available.

Join us on Saturday, April 11th, at 6:00PM for Crestwood Library Centennial Concert - QC Jazz Quartet

The QC Jazz Quartet is led by Dan Keding—a Canadian jazz guitarist, composer and arranger. Joining him are students or recent alumni from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. You’ll enjoy a performance of mid-twentieth century jazz pieces and jazz improvisation featuring fusion, flamenco, pop and rock influences.

Join NYT Best-selling author Jamie Brenner for a delightful evening of books, friends and fun.  Her books include THE FOREVER SUMMER, GILT, BLUSH and A NOVEL SUMMER. Her newest novel, THE WEEKEND CRASHERS is coming out on November 4th.

Her presentation will be followed by a Q & A, book signing and light refreshments.
